Two study days on the future of healthcare data in Belgium

The Belgian healthcare is faced with an impactful digital transition. The Belgian government is not the only one presenting clear goals and priorities via the Action Plan e-Healthcare. The European Health Data Space (EHDS) is setting clear deadlines as well: by 1 January 2029 Belgium has to be able to exchange healthcare data in a standardised and secure way with other European countries. The passed years a lot of work has been done to make this possible, but there is still a lot of work ahead.

The key to make it possible to save and share healthcare data? SNOMED CT, an international standard for clinical terminology that seems to play a central role in this.

But what is SNOMED CT exactly? How does it work? Will care professionals have to use it in their day-to-day practice? What does the roadmap for implementation look like? And how can the sector prepare itself?

We try to formulate answer to these questions during two study days.
