Vixor.health as key note at the HIVE event on Health Innovation in Luxemburg
‼️ Get reimbursement on your roadmap 12 months before certification.
‼️ Use AI to build your frontend, but don't touch your backend with it.
‼️Find the right ambassador in the hospital.
‼️Never underestimate a physician's resistance to prescribing an app.
And remember: the CE mark is a passport, not a key.
We kicked off this morning with a simple yet powerful idea: meeting the right people at the right time can genuinely change a health innovator's path and improve their odds. 🚀
That's why we built this workshop, and the room this morning proved exactly why it matters. Here's a taste of what our four speakers brought to the table:
🏛️Stefan Bolleininger (Consultys medical GmbH) walked us through how to make regulation work for you, not against you. The CE mark is a passport: it allows you to travel, but it doesn't pay your salary. That's why founders should be thinking about reimbursement pathways at least 12 months before they even start working on certification. A mindset shift that could save months of frustration and cash burn.
⚙️Antoine Duchâteau (iCure) tackled the technical realities of building interoperable digital health solutions. His message to founders was clear: use AI tools to build your frontend, by all means. But don't even think about using them to build your backend. Security, data privacy and compliance are the foundation of trust with clinicians, hospitals and the broader healthcare system.
🏥Henk Vansteenkiste (Vixor.health) reminded us that hospital engagement is as much about culture as it is about technology. Identifying a clinical champion early, building a clear scale-up plan before the pilot even starts, and having the patience to work within hospital timelines are not nice-to-haves. They are the difference between a pilot that leads somewhere and one that quietly fades out.
🌍Helene Viatge (AppThera) closed with what was perhaps the most thought-provoking session of the morning. 92% of physicians believe digital therapeutics can improve care, yet most have never prescribed one. DTx mechanisms rely on cognitive and behavioural sciences, not pharmacology, and European clinicians are simply not trained in these disciplines. Until we equip physicians with the language and confidence to prescribe digital solutions, even the best validated products will struggle to reach the patients who need them.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this morning. 🙏 Thank you to Luxinnovation GIE, and in particular Jean-Philippe, Max and Marta, for hosting us alongside the European Digital HealthTech Conference.
And a special thank you to our founding members, HE:AL Campus S.A., for their continued support. 🐝
Now, on to two days of even more conversations at the conference. The European health ecosystem is in the room, let's make the most of it!
